Experience:
I have worked in specialist SEND settings for over 20 years supporting children and young people aged 5 to 19 years old both as a teacher and a manager.
I am a specialist in Outdoor Education and will always go the extra mile to make outdoor activities accessible for all! In my previous setting I wrote and delivered a balanced Outdoor Learning Curriculum that included both adventurous and therapeutic elements that were differentiated for each group of learners. My aspiration is to always make learning practical and fun!
Hobbies and Interests:
When I’m not spending time nurturing my garden, I enjoy walking in my local woods or travelling further afield to explore the wilds of The Peak District.
I play several instruments, guitar, bass, drums and can be found on wet weather days in my recording studio.
I like nothing better than to share my interests with the young people that I work with, inspiring them to play an instrument or experience the outdoors and all the benefits that come with being in nature.

In this time I developed the curriculum, leading to outstanding outcomes including young people with severe learning disabilities accessing paid employment and progressing on to courses within mainstream FE. I organised and led overseas residentials for young people with SLD, including visits to Belgium for the Special Olympics, Northern France and Disneyland Paris.
Prior to this role, I worked within City of Doncaster Council. This role included work on child voice and developing forums so that children and young people with SEND were heard during decision making processes. I also worked across Doncaster schools, chairing EHCP reviews, on mediation and identifying bespoke packages of support for children and young people with SEND.
Hobbies and Interests:
I have been to all 92 grounds in the top four divisions of English football and also completed the National League. I take my daughter to watch and play football so most of my weekends are taken up by the beautiful game.

Other than football and music, I’m fascinated by the night sky and have a couple of telescopes, pity the British weather doesn’t support this hobby!
